Antonio Espino — Independent Insurance Agent Rio Grande Valley

LICENSED INSURANCE AGENT · RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS

Antonio Espino

Brownsville native. Family man. Independent insurance agent. And someone who believes that every person in the Rio Grande Valley deserves honest, personalized guidance when it comes to their health, life, and financial future.

I have been helping families across South Texas since 2017 — comparing Medicare plans, navigating health insurance, securing life insurance, and making sure my clients understand exactly what they have before they ever need to use it. Not because it is a job. Because this community is my home, and the people I serve are my neighbors.

The Road That Brought Me Here

I was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas — and I have never left. The Rio Grande Valley is not just where I work. It is where I grew up, where I built my family, and where I intend to spend my life. When I sit across from a client in Harlingen or take a call from a senior in McAllen, I am not talking to a stranger. I am talking to someone from my community.

My career did not start in insurance. Straight out of college, I spent eight years as a General Manager for Hibbett Sports — managing teams, meeting targets, and learning how to lead. It was demanding work. Long hours, constant pressure, and very little time for anything else. I was good at it. But it was not where my heart was.

So I made a change and became a teacher. I genuinely wanted to make a difference — to give back to the Valley that raised me. But the reality of teaching in today’s environment was harder than I expected. The lack of appreciation — from students and from administration alike — wore me down. I spent years doing my best in a role where I felt invisible. That experience taught me something important: I needed work where I could see the direct impact of what I did, in real time, for real people.

Then in 2017, I attended a seminar hosted by David Perez — a businessman right here from the Valley. The message was simple: How would you like to work for yourself? Something clicked. I had spent years working for everyone else — corporations, schools, systems. This was the first time someone asked what I wanted. I jumped in — and I have never looked back.

“I treat every client the way I would treat my own parents. If it is not the right plan for them, I will tell them that — even when it means I do not make a sale.”

— Antonio Espino, Espino Insurance Group

Why I Do This Work

The honest answer is simple: I love helping people. Every single client I sit down with has a different situation, different needs, different worries. A retired teacher in Brownsville navigating TRS-Care. A self-employed landscaper in McAllen who has never had health insurance. A senior in Harlingen who has been on the wrong Medicare plan for years and is paying hundreds of dollars more than she should be.

Every one of those conversations matters to me. Not because of the commission — but because I know what it feels like to work hard for years and not feel appreciated. My clients let me know every day that what I do makes a difference. That appreciation is what drives me.

One of the things I am most proud of is helping people with things I do not even get paid for — like applying for the Medicare Savings Program on behalf of clients who qualify and never knew it existed. Seeing someone’s monthly costs drop by $185 because they finally got the benefit they were entitled to — that is why I do this. That moment. That phone call.

📌 My approach in one sentence: I treat every client the way I would treat my own parents — guiding them to the best possible plan, fighting for every savings opportunity available to them, and always being honest even when the honest answer is not what they were hoping to hear.

⚠ A WORD ABOUT MEDICARE FRAUD

There are bad actors in every industry — and insurance is no exception. I have seen the damage that dishonest agents do to vulnerable seniors in the Rio Grande Valley. Seniors switched into plans without understanding what they were signing. Benefits misrepresented. Claims that should have been paid, denied. It is one of the things that genuinely angers me about this industry. My commitment to every client is radical transparency — you will always know exactly what your plan covers, what it costs, and why I am recommending it. And if you believe you have been a victim of Medicare fraud, I am here to help you navigate that too.

🏠 Espino Insurance Group — A Family Agency

The name on the door is Espino Insurance Group — and that name means something around here. This is not a call center. It is not a national brand with a local phone number. It is a family agency built by people who are from this Valley and committed to this Valley.

My wife Rubi Espino helps with the customer service side of the business — making sure clients are taken care of and that the experience with Espino Insurance Group is always a positive one. My twin brother Albert Espino is a licensed agent and a core part of the team. My sister Alicia Cavazos — once an Espino herself — helps as well. And several of my closest friends in the industry are part of what we have built together.

This is what a real independent agency looks like. Not a franchise. Not a corporate structure. A group of people from the Rio Grande Valley who genuinely care about the families they serve — and who treat those families like their own.

Outside the Office

When I am not working, I am home with my wife Rubi and our two kids — a seven-year-old and a five-year-old who keep things lively. Family is everything in the Rio Grande Valley, and that is as true for me as it is for any of the clients I serve. Raising a family here, in the community I grew up in, is a privilege I do not take lightly.

It also makes the work feel personal in a different way. When I help a young family figure out their health insurance, I think about my own family. When I help a senior protect their financial future, I think about the kind of guidance I would want someone to give my own parents someday. That perspective never leaves the room.

What You Can Always Expect From Me

🤝 Honesty First

I will never recommend a plan I would not put my own parents on. If it is not the right fit for you, I will tell you — even when that means I do not earn a commission.

🔍 Independent Advice

As an independent agent, I represent multiple carriers and have no obligation to any single company. My only obligation is to find what actually fits your situation best.

🌐 Bilingual Service

Every consultation is available in English or Spanish. In a community like ours, that is not a feature — it is a basic necessity for serving people the way they deserve.

📞 Ongoing Support

My relationship with clients does not end at enrollment. Annual reviews, claims questions, coverage changes — I am here for all of it, long after the paperwork is signed.

🏠 Locally Rooted

I was born here, raised here, and I am building my life here. The Rio Grande Valley is not a market to me — it is my home. And that changes everything about how I do my work.

🛡️ Advocate Against Fraud

I have seen what bad actors in this industry do to vulnerable seniors. I take that seriously — and I am committed to being the opposite of that in every interaction.
